Impossible, VMRO disbanded in 1934. We also didnt call ourselves cetniks. We called ourselves Komiti or a Komita. The word itself is a Macedonian word stemming from "cheta" Maybe the date is wrong. The words Komita and Chetnik meant the same thing in the early days and were interchangeable.....there were Serbian "komiti" as well. The name stems from the Commitee (Komitet) for national liberation. Cheta means the same throughout the ex-Yugoslavia and I think in Bulgaria also. -------------------------------------------- Serbian commanders of WWIOld King Peter Karadjordjevic - Kolubara Battle 1914 Vojvoda Radomir Putnik - Chief of Staff, early part of the war Vojvoda Petar Bojovic Vojvoda Vuk - commander of volunteer units ........... IMO, the 2 most outstanding officers: Vojvoda Stepa Stepanovic Vojvoda Zivojin Misic (My favourite. Sometimes refered to as the Balkan Klausevitz) A young Captain Misic in 1887 Welcome for general Misic in retaken Valjevo -1914 At a service for the fallen soldiers 1914 Misic ordering the charge of the "Danube" division - 1916 Misic, Solun Front - 1918 Greeting Serbian volunteers from the US and Canada Misic inspecting the French 17th (Colonial) division - 1918 Misic with sons: Radovan and Aleksandar - 1917 Postwar painting of Vojvoda Misic

Found a couple of interesting old photos from Macedonia, but from the time when Serbia and Bulgaria were fighting for dominance by supporting competing factions: 1. a picture of Hristo Cernopev's band (pro-Bulgarian(?) Macedonian chetniks) from 1903 2. picture of Vojvoda Jovan Babunski who was the main figure fighting for the Serbian cause

Vojvoda Babunski who fought against VMRO, was from a poor family, the Serbian propaganda used Macedonians from economical challeneged backrounds to fight against VMRO.

Bulgarian soldiers, attacking turkish positions in the Balkan war 1912. The irresistable "Bayonet attack"!!! According to the war documents from that time, no army has ever resisted the fearsome bulgarian bayonet attack. And not a single bulgarian war flag has been captured. Ever!!! The Military courage of the Bulgarian army was unattainable. Most of the historians at that time called it "The Prussians of the Balkans" Vasil Ivanov Kunchev, also known as Levski - The Apostle of Liberty. One of the greatest bulgarians and the most beloved national hero. Founder of a secret Committee for liberation of Bulgaria from turkish yoke! Ideologist of the national revolution. Captured and executed by the turks on 19 february 1873. Hristo Botev - great poem writer, revolutionary ideologist and national hero. His immortal poems are a fine example of skill and talent. His famous words are written with golden words in the French Louvre: "Who falls in a fight for freedom, he never dies". Organised a cheta to help the April Uprising in 1876. His group of 200 volunteers fough with numerous bands of bashibauzuks, cherkez and turks. Died on Milin kamak in the Vrachan Balkan. A moment from the battle for Pleven (Russo - Turkish war 1877) The brave russian troops are taking Grivitsa redout in an epic battle: Georgi (Goce) Delchev - bulgarian national hero, leader of the Macedonian - Odrin revolutionary organisation and later the IMRO - Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organisation. Jane Sandanski - bulgarian revolutionary, born in Pirin. Participate in the greatest bulgarian uprising on the Balkans - Ilinden uprising. Damian (Dame) Gruev - bulgarian great revolutionary fighter for freedom of Macedonia. Ideologist and leader of IMRO.

And thats a fact, no army has ever resited the Bulgarian Bayonet Charge ..... Yes - we won all the military battles, but lost the wars because of the incompetent diplomats and politicians. Great nation, brave soldiers but foolish and unqualified political figures. The same picture today....
