Yes indeed. The AK-47 is the Lord of war. If I would be surrounded by 10.000 nazi troops, Id probably wanna take them down with the Kalashnikov. Our Russian brothers sure know how to make good guns

Volume of Russian arms exports in 2009 to exceed $8 bln - Fomin
LE BOURGET, June 15 (RIA Novosti) - The volume of Russian arms exports in 2009 will exceed $8 billion, the head of Russia's delegation to the International Paris Air Show said Monday.
"I hope very much that we will fulfill this plan. Aviation has always occupied a considerable part of our exports - 48-50% in 2008, and I think this tendency will be preserved for 2009," Alexander Fomin, first deputy head of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, said at Le Bourget 2009.
The general director of state arms exporter Rosoboronexport told RIA Novosti on Monday that military aviation would account for more than half of Russian military exports in the next five years.
Anatoly Isaikin added that Rosoboronexport alone exported goods worth $6.72 billion in 2008, and said sales to European counties represented about 5-7% of Rosoboronexport's total trade volume.

Medvedev checks out unique underwater rifle. RussiaToday.com 29 September, 2009, 14:58 While on a visit to a naval base in Russia’s western enclave of Kaliningrad, President Medvedev tested the latest masterpiece of Russian gunsmiths – a rifle that can shoot almost as well in water as above ground. The president’s visit was timed with the Zapad-2009 military exercise. Although stormy weather forced Russian commanders to cancel the pre-planned show of paratroopers dropping directly into the sea, they entertained the head of state with a different show – Medvedev personally tested the ADS assault rifle. This weapon is currently being tested, but designers claim that they have solved an old problem and their gun can shoot both underwater and in regular conditions. ADS stands for “special double-environment automatic rifle”. When used on normal terrain, the firearm shoots regular 5.45x39mm Kalashnikov rounds, and for underwater use employs a specially developed cartridge where the weapon shoots a specially developed cartridge with a 53-millimeter-long bullet fitted to the Kalashnikov’s case. The muzzle velocity of the bullet is 330 meters per second and the effective range is reported to be 25 meters at a depth of five meters, and 18 meters at a 20-meter depth. A special cavity at the tip of the bullet creates a sort of air lubrication around it and helps to stabilize the bullet in the water. The gun was designed for Russian underwater commandos who had reportedly complained that their current weapon – the APS, or “special underwater automatic rifle”, which shoots steel needles and cannot be used in ground operations. When armed with ADS rifles, the soldiers can abandon the practice of carrying two rifles – one for surface and one for underwater fighting. The military, who received the president’s praise for their well-prepared and executed training also presented the president with a combat knife made of a special alloy that also can be used equally well on the shore and in the depths of the sea. Medvedev, in line with Russian tradition, which considers it a bad sign to present sharp objects, gave a coin in return. Mikhail Kalashnikov, father of the AK-47, turns 90.
MOSCOW, November 10 (RIA Novosti) - Mikhail Kalashnikov, the Russian inventor of the AK-47 assault rifle, turned 90 on Tuesday.
Then-Soviet soldier Kalashnikov was inspired to design the weapon after being wounded in 1941 during WWII. While his first attempts were deemed unsuccessful, he was given a position in weapons development, and by 1947 he had perfected his masterpiece.
Since then, the AK-47 has become the most widespread and famous assault rifle in history. Used by some 50 armies around the world, as well as countless urban guerrilla movements, it is also featured on the flag of Mozambique.
However, despite estimated sales of 100 million, Kalashnikov, who lives in the Western Urals city of Izhevsk, claims not to have profited from the AK-47 and to receive only a state pension.
"Without doubt, Mikhail Kalashnikov is the world patriarch of small arms weapons," the deputy director of Russia's state arms exporter Rosoboronexport said.
"His contribution to the advancement on the foreign arms market of Russian small arms is priceless...His name is as famous as that of Yury Gagarin, the world's first cosmonaut" Igor Sevastyanov told RIA Novosti.
The official also said that Russia had signed a contract with an unnamed North African state for 500,000 AK-103-2s, a newly modified version of the AK-47 capable of firing three-round bursts.
However, despite his world fame, or notoriety, Kalashnikov takes no pleasure in the destructive power he unleashed all those years ago.
"I'm proud of my invention, but I'm sad that it is used by terrorists," he said on a visit to Germany in 2002.
"I would prefer to have invented a machine that people could use and that would help farmers with their work - for example a lawnmower."

Russia to test new model of Kalashnikov assault rifle in 2011.
State tests of the new model of Kalashnikov automatic rifles will be held in Russia next year, Izhmash Director General Vladimir Grodetsky said on Tuesday.
The new model of the legendary assault rifle, the AK-200, is based on the AK-74M and differs in weight (3.8 kilograms/8.4 lbs vs. 3.3 kilograms/7.3 lbs) and the magazine capacity (30, 50, 60 rounds vs. 30).
The AK-74, a developed version of the Kalashnikov rifle's first model, the AK-47, was introduced in 1974 and used by the Soviet forces during the Afghanistan conflict.
The AK-47 was originally created by Mikhail Kalashnikov, who as a WWII soldier was inspired to design the weapon after being wounded in 1941. While his first attempts were unsuccessful, he was given a position in weapons development, and by 1947 he had perfected his masterpiece.
Since then, the AK-47 has become the most widespread and famous assault rifle. Used by some 50 armies around the world, as well as countless urban guerrilla movements, it is also featured on the flag of Mozambique.
Kalashnikov received Russia's highest honorary title on his 90th birthday last November. Accepting the award, Kalashnikov voiced regret that his creation, the world's most widely used rifle, has been often misused.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev described the AK-47 at the ceremony as "an excellent model of Russian weaponry" and "a national brand that makes each citizen proud."
