Most Czechs proud of being Czechs - poll
PRAGUE- Czechs are great patriots and are proud of being citizens of the Czech Republic to which they have a deep relationship, according to a poll conducted by the STEM polling institute in May. Roughly 83 percent of them (42 percent definitely and 41 percent fairly) are proud of their Czech citizenship.
Compared with a poll taken last year, the number of "proud Czechs" has increased by two percentage points. The figure was the lowest in 1999 - a mere 72 percent.
The greatest pride in being a Czech citizen was displayed by people with secondary and higher education (some 87 percent).
In terms of age, the greatest pride was shown by those over 60 - 85 percent of them. They are followed by those aged 30 to 44 years and 45 to 59 years, with 83 percent in both age groups.
A strong patriotism chiefly appears among Czech businessmen with 90 percent. The lowest pride in the Czech Republic was declared by the unemployed with 74 percent and Communist voters - 78 percent. In other parties, the figure is roughly 90.
Of those who would vote for the acceptation of the European constitution, 87 percent are proud of Czech citizenship. Among its opponents, there are 77 percent of proud Czechs.
The poll has revealed that the patriotism of Czechs is so strong that it is claimed by three-quarters of those who dislike the current political situation in the country.

Slavic pride world wide (I know it should be white so dont say that I stole it) This is good news for us. But People still get their mind pollutioned by media and by germanisation. Czechs can be proud being Czechs in 1000 years but they still change and maybe Czechs in the furture will have half of their language german but still they will be Czech.

I swear Czechs are weird…. No offence to you guy’s, but here in Sydney I’ve met a lot of Czechs and… well you’z are weird. All of you are quiet and reserved, before I used to thing the Russians are reserved (show little emotion), that is in comparison to us on the Balkans (especially the Serbs), but now Czechs top the list, with the Slovaks that is.

To Danik: Yes when you are drunk.... we are wild even when sober. Danik, I don't know if you have this things where you live, but if you can go to a "Kafana" (Serbian or Macedonian) there are more of them in there than Bulgarians. I am talking about a place where people dance on the tables when they get waisted. Its, so wild that you either love it or get scared and run off. I have had friends from both categories.

That's a complete nonsense... Germanization stoped in 1918 with the creation of the Czechoslovak Republic. After WWII after we kicked out the German trash our language was de-germanized and words from Russian and Polish were placed instead. Shortly after the WWII we didn't use capital letters when referring to Germany or Germans ( germany or germans, LOL). In Russian you have many words from German, too (for example a potato, Kartoffel - êàðòîôåëü). So please don't say crap like we are germanized or something. We only don't like mess, that's all.
