Putin decided for a stealth bomber development
Moscow, Russia - Latest technologies employed for its realization (WAPA) - According to several sources near Russian Kremlin, president Vladimir Putin given some time ago green light to the development of a new stealth bomber aircraft to replace and modernize the Russian air force attack aircraft fleet.
Described to be smaller than the U.S. Air Force Northrop B-2 Spirit stealth bomber, this new Russian bomber, named T-60S, is currently being developed by Russian aircraft manufacturer Sukhoi, maker of the famed SU-27 "Flanker" fighter-bomber.
This new aircradt will use a variable "Swing" geometry wing not previously used on U.S. stealth aircraft, which allow T-60S to have better performances in respect to similar U.S. aircraft.
It seems that Russian researches on stealth aicraft have been simplified by the recovery and sale of a shot-down U.S. Air Force F-117A stealth fighter during the 1999 war against Serbia.
Serbs reportedly sold the remains of the American stealth aircraft directly to the Russians. Therefore, the impression of a decading air force, as appears to be the Russian air force after the fall of the Soviet Union, reduced to approximately one half its original size, is no longer suitable to the current situation. The widespread impression of an under-funded and poorly manned air force in today's Russia has been disputed by the heavy investments made by Russian government in the last years. It is estimated that over a billion dollars has been diverted by the Russian government into new weapons programs.
However, yet in 1995, the commander of the Russian air force, General Peter Deinekin, stated that a new multi-role strategic bomber would replace the aging Tupolev TU-22 "Blinder" medium-range bomber and the Sukhoi SU-24 "Fencer" bomber-fighter. (Avionews)

In imaginary situation, are those planes capable to bomb american rocked bases in middle Europe without being shot? Yep....their cruise missiles have a 5000 km range

Well american rockets from imaginary rocket base in middle europe can be in moscow in 3 minutes. So i was just asking. The planned Polish and Czech bases are not really a threat to Russia with only 10 interceptor missiles. But who is to say that in 10 years time they won't base many more offensive systems there.....which what all the fuss is about

All sorts of scenarios are possible in the future, including the one's you mention above. At the moment the US is bound by treaties that limit the number of warheads as well as their deployment.....which doesn't mean they won't abandon them and in fact that is what they're hinting they will do.
Russia is talking about leaving the Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile treaty (IRBM) in response. In theory that means they could deploy IRBMs in western Russia (and possibly in Belorussia) which would be able to reach Europe (including the Polish and Czech bases) very quickly and the interceptors won't be able to shoot them down (due to their speed and trajectory).
Another weapon that is just entering service is the 'Iskander-M' Short Range Tactical missile which has a maneuverable warhead that is difficult to shoot down. If Russia decided to deploy them in the Kaliningrad area it could reach the Polish base......BTW, the 'Iskander-M' is not part of any existing agreements or treaties

i think Us plan is that they provoke Russia by e.g building the missile defense staion(dont know the exact name) in Poland, sothat Russia has to break the treaties and America is free to build more warheads.

Stealth technology is fake...Stealth planes can be intersect by sky patrol with radars on 600km..And Russian dont need more warheads.Russia has enough warheads,Russia has the most warheads in the world about 20 000.Their upkeep is big and they are useles in conventional war so better make more modern aircraft that warheads.

Russian President Putin Orders Long-Range Bomber Patrols
Published August 17, 2007 Associated Press
MOSCOW – President Vladimir Putin said Friday that he had ordered the military to resume regular long-range flights of strategic bombers, news agencies reported, returning to a practice that ended with the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Speaking as Russian and Chinese forces held major war games exercises for the first time on Russian territory, Putin said a halt in long-range bombers' flights after the Soviet collapse had affected Russia's security as other nations had continued such missions — an oblique reference to the United States.
"I have made a decision to resume regular flights of Russian strategic aviation," Putin was quoted as saying by Russian agencies.
"We proceed from the assumption that our partners will view the resumption of flights of Russia's strategic aviation with understanding," Putin was quoted as saying.
The war games, which took place near the Urals Mountain city of Chelyabinsk, came on the same day that Russia air force said its strategic bombers flew several missions ranging far over the Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic oceans.
Putin said that 20 Russian bombers were involved in the exercise.
"Starting today, such tours of duty would be regular," Putin said. "Our pilots have been grounded for too long, they are happy to start a new life."
Soviet bombers routinely flew such missions to areas from which nuclear-tipped cruise missiles could be launched at the United States, but stopped in the post-Soviet economic meltdown.
Booming oil prices over recent years have allowed Russia to sharply increase its military spending.
"Starting in 1992, the Russian Federation unilaterally suspended strategic aviation flights to remote areas," Putin said. "Regrettably, other nations haven't followed our example. That has created certain problems for Russia's security."

Tupolev aircraft maker to develop Russia's new strategic bomber.
ZHUKOVSKY (Moscow Region), August 19 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Defense Ministry and the Tupolev aircraft maker have signed a contract on the development of a new-generation strategic bomber, the company's general director said on Wednesday.
"We signed a contract this year on research and development of a future strategic bomber for the Russian strategic aviation. It will be a conceptually new plane based on the most advanced technologies," Igor Shevchuk said at the MAKS-2009 air show near Moscow.
Tu-95MC Bear and Tu-160 Blackjack bombers, Tu-22M3 Backfire long-range bombers and Il-78 Midas aerial tankers will form the backbone of the Russian strategic aviation in the next decade following extensive modernization.
However, by 2020 they will be obsolete, and the new strategic bomber will allow Russia to maintain the effectiveness of the air component of its nuclear triad in competition with similar foreign aircraft, the official said.
Russia's Air Force commander, Col. Gen. Alexander Zelin earlier said a fifth-generation strategic bomber could be used effectively in both conventional and nuclear conflicts.
"The new plane will use a wide selection of high-precision weapons, and will have a whole range of new combat capabilities, allowing it to apply new methods to carrying out deterrence tasks," he said.

Russia to develop new strategic bomber by 2017.
A new-generation Tu strategic bomber will be developed by 2017, Russian aircraft maker Tupolev said on Wednesday.
Company President Alexander Bobryshev told Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin the research on the new aircraft project should be completed by 2012, while production-line assembly should start in 2020 to 2025.
However, Maj. Gen. Anatoly Zhikharev, commander of Russia's strategic aviation said on Tuesday a new strategic bomber, which will use stealth technology, is expected to enter service in 2025-2030
He said the stealth technology will make "the new aircraft difficult to detect by radar, although it is impossible to make airplanes of this type completely invisible."
The new bomber will replace the Tu-95MC Bear and Tu-160 Blackjack strategic bombers, and Tu-22M3 Backfire long-range bombers currently in service with Russia's strategic aviation.
According to various sources, in addition to 16 Tu-160 bombers, the Russian Air Force currently has 40 Tu-95MS bombers and 141 Tu-22M3 bombers in service.
These aircraft will form the backbone of the Russian strategic aviation in the next decade following extensive modernization.

Russia to commission new stealth bomber in 2025-2030.
Russia’s new strategic bomber will use stealth technologies and is expected to enter service in 2025-2030, the commander of Russia’s strategic aviation said on Tuesday.
According to Maj. Gen. Anatoly Zhikharev, the stealth technology will make "the new aircraft difficult to detect by radar, although it is impossible to make airplanes of this type completely invisible.”
"However, new technologies and materials will help reduce the possibility of detection,” Zhikarev said, adding that the new airplane was expected to enter service in 2025-2030.
The new strategic bomber will replace the Tu-95MC Bear and Tu-160 Blackjack strategic bombers, and Tu-22M3 Backfire long-range bombers currently in service with Russia’s strategic aviation.
“We expect to receive two upgraded Tu-160 planes from the Kazan plant and to have two more aircraft in for repair by the end of December, so this process is continuous,” Zhikharev said.
The general said the modernization included the overhaul of obsolete communications, electronic warfare, targeting, and fire-control systems.
“We are planning to complete this modernization by 2015,” he added.

India, Russia set up a USD 600 million aircraft Joint Venture.
Press Trust Of India Moscow, Russia, December 29, 2009
India and Russia are to invest USD 600 million to set up a joint venture (JV) to produce a medium lift transport aircraft for their armed forces.
While Bangalore based state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) will fork out USD 300 million, Russia's United Aircraft Cooperation (UAC) will invest a similar amount for the joint venture which will start rolling out the aircraft by 2017.
The Voice of Russia radio said that the joint venture coming up with fifty-fifty equity would develop the aircraft at Aviastar-SP plant based in Ulyanovsk city on Volga. The Indian Air Force is expected to order at least 35 and Russian Air Force as many as 100 medium lift transport aircraft.
In its basic configuration the new transport aircraft will have a payload capacity of 18.5 tons of cargo and can fly up to a a distance of 2500 km in any climatic conditions.
The aircraft is being designed to also operate from high altitude mountain airstrips, according to information posted on UAC website. India hopes that the new medium lift transport aircraft will replace its ageing fleet of 104 AN-32 aircraft.
Though India has signed a contract worth USD 398 million for the upgradation of these aircrafts between this year to 2017, the new plane will replace it.

With new fighter in hand, Putin wants modern bombers.
Mon Mar 1, 2010 2:56pm EST
MOSCOW (Reuters) - Once it has completed work on its own fifth-generation fighter, Russia must proceed with designing a brand-new nuclear-capable strategic bomber, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said on Monday.
"Certainly, we should not confine ourselves to developing just one new model. After the fifth-generation fighter jet, we must think and get down to work on a next-generation, long-range aviation complex -- our new strategic missile carrier," Putin told a cabinet meeting on Russia's military-industrial complex. After the demise of the Soviet Union, Russia inherited a fleet of the still formidable but fast-aging Tupolev Tu-95MS turbo-prop strategic bombers and missile platforms codenamed "Bears" by NATO.
It also has a much smaller fleet of the more modern, supersonic Tupolev Tu-160 "Blackjack" jet bombers, the world's biggest warplanes built so far.
Russia test-flew its long-awaited stealth fighter at the end of January, presenting it as Moscow's first all-new warplane since the 1991 Soviet collapse and a challenge to the technological supremacy of Cold War foe the United States which rolled out its fifth-generation fighter more than a decade ago.
Putin, then president, ordered in 2007 to resume Soviet-style patrols of Russian bombers around the globe, seeing it as a way of boosting Moscow's stature in the world.

Russia-India military transport plane could be ready by 2018.
A new Russian-Indian military transport plane could make its maiden flight by 2018, the head of the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) said.
Russia and India signed an intergovernmental agreement on the joint development of a multi-role transport aircraft (MTA) in 2007. The cost of the $600-mln project is being equally shared by the two countries.
"We are at the initial stage of the project. Maybe in 6-8 years we shall have the prototype aircraft flying," Ashok Nayak said in an exclusive interview with RIA Novosti.
The MTA project will be implemented by a Russian-Indian joint venture, co-founded by Russia's arms exporter Rosoboronexport and United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) and India's HAL.
An agreement on the formation of the JV is expected to be signed during the current visit of Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin to India.
"A green flag has been shown at this point...the work will progress very fast for the formation of the joint venture," Nayak said, adding that all necessary documents had been agreed on by both sides.
Moscow and New Delhi will have an equal share in the development and production of the aircraft. The aircraft is expected to be assembled in both Russia and India.
"Initially we expect to produce about 205 aircraft of which 30% will go on the world market," the HAL chairman said.
The MTA will be most likely developed on the basis of the Il-214 twin-engine military transport aircraft designed by the Ilyushin Design Bureau.
The new aircraft will feature a takeoff weight of around 55 tons, flight range of 2,500 kilometers (1,550 miles) and a payload of up to 20 tons.
