I'm curious what the gun laws are like in the Slavic world. I'd search myself, but I'd like to hear from first hand accounts and anyone that has a general knowledge base on the subject what they are locally.
Also, by any chance does anyone know what country has the most leniency when it comes to owning fully automatic weapons, if any?

Remember, in communist countries gun ownership was...uhm...forbidden. My father remembers police constantly raiding villages to even take hunting rifles. Jugoslavia is an exception as Tito kept people in constant fear of Soviet Invasion so men had to keep their fire-arms after military service (or so I am told)

I know that in Slovenia - because I heard a Slovevian saying so - gun ownership is extremely restricted. I can't tell you about specific laws, because I don't know them, but they are the opposite to the US - which is pretty liberal on gun ownership. Actually, this is an interesting topic, so I think people could bother to look up for information on their country stance on the subject and share it with us.

Jugoslavia is an exception as Tito kept people in constant fear of Soviet Invasion so men had to keep their fire-arms after military service (or so I am told) Not quite. Until age of 27 men were part of the army reserve and were required to mobilise on short notice if needed. Yugoslav speciality was that men over 27 were signed up to their local Teritorial Defense (more like Volksturm than US National Guard) unit and were required to mobilise with them in a case of an invasion and fight both as regulars and partisans, as needed. But all the weaponary was stored in storages on municipality level not with the TD reservists themselves. I know that in Slovenia - because I heard a Slovevian saying so - gun ownership is extremely restricted. I can't tell you about specific laws, because I don't know them, but they are the opposite to the US - which is pretty liberal on gun ownership. You must be a member of a shooting club or be a member of a registered hunter`s family. Otherwise you can`t get a permit. That you would like one for self-protection isn`t grounds enough for them to issue you one.

This was for people's good. In this way they couldn't harm themselves.

Where does this adoration of USA come from? Truth is laws vary quite a lot state to state and even county to county. Some areas, like where I live, you CAN theoretically obtain a license, but it requires so much paper-work as to make it impractical, not to mention maintanace and renewal fees. Other states, fire-arms are sold without a license to anybody with money. Some bizarre stories I heard is banks in Florida offering a free shot-gun if you open an account. ;D I hope you are joking.

USA- example. Young people belong 21 years old they cannot buy alkohol but the gun can. This is destination to very bad consequences. People are crazy and shoot to others without reason. Guns are selfdefences but their owners create another danger situation.

Adoration? Stating the gun laws are the opposite in Slovenia is adoring the US?! WTF!
I heard that too.
As for baning gun ownership for our "own good", no comment.

Well, here in US "Liberals" are the ones who want to take everybody's guns away. ;D
They can just as easily use chains, lead pipes, baseball bats and knives. Portions of US where gun-ownership is normal don't suffer more fire-arm homicide (actually less!)
Finland is another example with a long history of fire-arm ownership which did not lead to wild shoot-outs.
