Large group of migrants from African countries attempt to cross into US through Rio Grande.
RT Jun 3, 2019
Texan border officials arrested a group of 116 migrants attempting to illegally cross the American border by swimming through the Rio Grande. The group consisted of families with children, pouring in from Angola, Cameroon, Congo and other African nations.
Since October, Del Rio sector border officials have encountered over 182 large groups, all numbering more than a 100, but this was the first big group to be arrested in its entirety. As of now, the migrants are still being processed by the agency, meanwhile, the government holding cells are severely overcrowded. At one point in May, a cell designed for 35 people had to contain 155.

Russia writes off African debt worth over $20 BILLION – Putin.
RT.com 23 Oct, 2019 09:17
Moscow has written off more than $20 billion in debt accumulated by African countries during the Soviet era, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Wednesday.
“It was not only an act of generosity, but also a manifestation of pragmatism, because many of the African states were not able to pay interest on these loans,” Putin told TASS on the eve of the summit.
While addressing the Russia-Africa forum in Sochi, he called for trade between Russia and African countries to be doubled in the next four to five years.
Putin also said that Russia intends to increase its presence in Africa at state level.
The first-ever Russia-Africa Summit brought more than 50 African leaders to Sochi.

Conspiracy FACT: Soros-funded prosecutors let rioters go but declare not agreeing with Black Lives Matter to be a ‘hate crime’
Nebojsa Malic, RT 9 Jul, 2020 19:46
Democrats and the US mainstream media have insisted that tales of George Soros’ malign influence on US politics are conservative conspiracies. Americans targeted by prosecutors whose elections he financed can testify otherwise.
Take the case of two Californians who are facing ‘hate crime’ charges for painting over a Black Lives Matter mural outside the Contra Costa County courthouse during the Independence Day weekend.
Nichole Anderson and David Nelson are being prosecuted by District Attorney Diana Becton, who described BLM as “an important civil rights cause that deserves all of our attention,” (emphasis added) and insisted that “we must address the root and byproduct of systemic racism in our country.”
A former judge with no prosecutorial experience and dogged by accusations of plagiarism, Becton was elected in 2018 thanks in no small part to $275,000 poured into her campaign by Soros.
The Hungarian-born Democrat mega-donor became obscenely wealthy through currency speculation, before turning his eye towards influencing politics. In addition to funding various Democrats in state and congressional races, Soros invested heavily in local elections, where his money could make a much bigger difference.
He specifically targeted district attorneys, who in the US make all the prosecutorial decisions on a local level. In 2018, he invested more than $2.7 million in DA races in California, according to the Los Angeles Times. This was on top of the more-than $16 million he spent since 2014 on 17 district attorney races across the US, with his candidates winning 13 of them.
One of those candidates is Kim Gardner, the circuit attorney in St. Louis, Missouri since 2017. She returned the favor almost immediately, playing a key role in the prosecution of Republican Governor Eric Greitens over alleged invasion of privacy. The case eventually imploded, but not before it served its purpose in forcing Greitens to resign.
Given Gardner’s history, it should not have come as a shock when she released every single person arrested during the George Floyd riots at the end of May, which claimed the life of retired police Captain David Dorn.
Nor should it be a surprise that Gardner is currently trying to find a way to press charges against Mark and Patricia McCloskey, the St. Louis couple who defended their house with a rifle and a handgun after a crowd of ‘peaceful’ Black Lives Matter protesters demolished the gate of their community last month.
The McCloskeys have already been vilified in the media as racist, for daring to stand up for their property against the mob that threatened to kill them, and they have had to board up the house due to repeated violent demonstrations outside. To make the irony even greater, Mark is a lawyer who has represented victims of police brutality. None of it matters to Gardner, of course – the Narrative must be served.
Kim Foxx of Cook County, Illinois is another Soros-funded DA. She infamously tried to cover for actor Jussie Smollett after he staged a hate crime against himself in February 2019. Though Foxx dropped the charges, Smollett is now facing a special prosecutor.
Even in races where Soros did not get directly involved, Democrats who won embraced his policy of ‘criminal justice reform’. While it sounds lofty in theory, in practice it has mainly consisted of refusing to prosecute most offenses committed by minorities in the name of ‘racial justice’.
For years, Democrats have denounced ‘big money’ in politics. That rhetoric suddenly stopped once Soros became openly involved. Any time anyone brings this up, they denounce it as a “right-wing conspiracy theory” and even anti-Semitism – though the Israeli government begs to differ. Yet the proof of the pudding is in selective prosecutions, driven by racial grievance-mongering and intended to send a message to Americans that some people are, actually, above the law.
‘So it's verboten?’: Fox News panelist STOPS Newt Gingrich from discussing ‘Soros-elected’ district attorneys.
RT.com 16 Sep, 2020 22:19
A Fox News host and a former CIA spokesperson ganged up on former House speaker and Republican pundit Newt Gingrich when he brought up the undisputed fact that George Soros funded candidates for prosecutors in riot-struck cities.
“The number one problem in almost all the cities is George Soros-elected, left-wing, anti-police, pro-criminal district attorneys who refuse to keep people locked up,” Gingrich told the hosts of ‘Outnumbered’ on Wednesday.
“Both [Kamala] Harris and [Joe] Biden have talked very proudly about what they call progressive district attorneys,” he continued. “Progressive district attorneys are anti-police, pro-criminal, and overwhelmingly elected with George Soros’ money. They are a major cause of the violence we are seeing because they keep putting the violent criminals back on the street.”
He was cut off by panelist Melissa Francis – who hosts her own show on Fox Business – saying “I’m not sure we need to bring George Soros into this.” Fellow panelist Marie Harf – who was a spokeswoman for the CIA and the State Department during the Obama administration – joined in, arguing that “George Soros doesn’t need to be part of this conversation.”
“Okay, so it’s verboten?” Gingrich said, incredulous. After a long moment of awkward silence, host Harris Faulkner simply said “Okay, we’re going to move on.”
Gingrich is best known as speaker of the Republican-majority House of Representatives from 1995 to 1999. This is not the first time he has brought up Soros in a Fox News appearance. In early August, he told ‘Fox and Friends’ that Democrats are “owned by people who are financed by George Soros.”
While that may have been hyperbole, in this particular instance he was literally correct. Between 2014 and 2018, Soros had spent more than $16 million on 17 district attorney races across the US, with his candidates winning 13 of them. In 2018 alone, Soros spent more than $2.7 million on district attorney races in California, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Mainstream US media outlets openly reported that at the time, presenting the spending spree as a noble effort by the Hungarian-born Democrat mega-donor to “reform” the US justice system from the ground up.
Among the DAs Soros’s donations helped elect are Kim Foxx of Cook County (Chicago), Illinois, – who tried to drop the charges against actor Jussie Smollett for staging a hate crime against himself – and Larry Krasner of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Then there is Kim Gardner of St. Louis, Missouri, infamous for releasing all rioters while trying to prosecute Mark and Patricia McCloskey, the armed couple who confronted an angry mob that had broken into their gated community.
Nor has Soros’s influence been limited to major cities. His funding was decisive in the election of Diana Becton as the DA in California’s Contra Costa County – just east of the San Francisco Bay Area – despite a plagiarism scandal. Becton became famous for pressing hate crimes charges against a couple that painted over the Black Lives Matter street mural during this year’s Independence Day weekend.
Mentioning any of that is now apparently off-limits on Fox News, however.

‘Wake up, motherf**ker!’ WATCH Portland protesters seek ‘support’ for BLM cause with bullhorns & flashlights in residential area.
RT.com 22 Aug, 2020 00:48
Black Lives Matter protesters in Portland are pushing beyond the city's central business district to residential areas, screaming at residents and shining lights into windows to demand obeisance for their agenda.
“Wake up. Wake up. Wake up, motherf****r, wake up,” BLM protesters chanted on Thursday night as they went through residential areas and blocked off streets. Their sound was amplified by bullhorns and beating drums.
Such tactics may be spreading around the country. BLM demonstrators in Seattle last week went into a residential area and demanded that white people move out of the neighborhood and give their property to blacks.
More of the same may be planned for Friday in Portland. A message posted earlier today on Twitter by a BLM supporter urged activists to gather for a “direct action march” this evening, starting in Irving Park. The park is located north of Portland's downtown, in a residential area.
The message, posted under the account name Riot Ribs, noted that Irving Park was the rallying point for the Albina riots in the summer of 1967, when protesters set fires, broke windows and looted a nearby store. “Black activists often chanted, 'burn the town down' as they would march and take direct action through one of Portland's most racist neighborhoods,” Riot Ribs said. “Show up tonight, y'all!” The message was later deleted.
Twitter users took the message as a call for terrorist action. “Not sure you should be encouraging terrorism acts, encouraging discourse referring to the threat of burning down neighborhoods,” one netizen tweeted.
Other users suggested that screaming at people in their homes may not be the wisest tactic for building popular support for BLM's goals. “Ah yes, this is the perfect way to get people to join my cause – scream in the street in the middle of the night when people are sleeping and probably have work the next day,” one user said. “You've definitely got my vote.”
Criminal shopping | Looting continues apace in downtown Minneapolis.
RT Aug 27, 2020
Governor Tim Walz has mobilized the Minnesota National Guard in response to widespread looting in Minneapolis, reportedly sparked by false allegations that the city’s police had shot and killed a black man earlier in the day.
Restaurants, shops, and other businesses were vandalized and robbed in Minneapolis hours after a murder suspect shot himself after being confronted by police. A rumor spread alleging that the man had been killed by law enforcement officers, leading to rioting in the city, according to reports.
Citing the chaos in downtown Minneapolis, Waltz declared a ‘peacetime emergency’ and said he was sending guardsmen, including a military police unit, to help “restore order” in the city.
Additionally, the Minnesota State Patrol deployed around 150 troopers to help local police disperse the rioters and prevent further looting. The National Guard and state police deployments came after Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey imposed a curfew and requested assistance from the governor.
'Fiery but mostly peaceful': CNN mocked for ridiculous caption of Kenosha riots destruction.
RT.com 27 Aug, 2020 07:32
Online vigilantes lined up to spew vitriol at CNN and their reporter, who described the chaos in the riots-plagued Kenosha as “mostly peaceful” protests, while showing viewers exactly the opposite.
CNN's Omar Jimenez went live from a troubled neighborhood in Kenosha, Wisconsin, telling viewers that protests – sparked by the death of African American Jacob Blake – were “largely peaceful” during the day, but that “things began to get a little bit more contentious” when night fell.
As he spoke, buildings and vehicles burned in the background, with the scenes of destruction and chaos running contrary to what the network captioned as “fiery, but mostly peaceful protests after police shooting.”
A cohort of online commentators quickly built up, expressing anger and frustration over the tone of the coverage and its language. “Is that like, 'deadly, but mostly enjoyable car accidents?'Like — does this make sense?” a CNN critic asked.
Some pulled no punches and suggested that CNN should compare their language to the reality. One asked if throwing “a mostly peaceful Molotov cocktail in their living room” would amount to the “fiery but mostly peaceful protests.”
There were those who questioned the quality of CNN's reporting, and referred to instances when other US established media had aired a similar blunder. Back in May, MSNBC host and Emmy nominee Ali Velshi faced an avalanche of online criticism when he was reporting live from a burning neighborhood in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where George Floyd was killed.
At the time, Velshi described the unrest as “not, generally speaking, unruly,” drawing parallels with Jimenez' reporting.
Striking a more emollient tone, some people wondered if the infamous CNN banner was the result of a foul play.
Sarcasm aside, the Wisconsin city of Kenosha has been on fire for several days in a row, with rioters defying a police curfew and hurling projectiles at local businesses and law enforcement buildings. Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers had to call in the National Guard to quash the unrest, but furniture shops, car lots, correctional facilities and random vehicles were burnt to the ground.
CNN wasn't the only one to suggest the wave of destruction and arson is nothing more than “peaceful protests.” Their colleagues at CBS did exactly the same, followed by the New York Times, which said they were “peaceful marches” that “gave way to fires and destruction.”
‘The new Babylon Bee?’ CNN commentator mocked after downplaying riots in Kenosha, Portland as ‘protests’ with a FIERY cover photo.
RT.com 31 Aug, 2020 03:22
CNN’s Chris Cillizza became the butt of the joke online after saying that calling the unrest in Kenosha and Portland “riots” is a desperate ploy by Trump. The cover photo seems to be at odds with the spin, however.
CNN political commentator Chris Cillizza faced a torrent of mockery from conservatives accusing him of whitewashing the violence festering in Kenosha, Wisconsin and Portland, Oregon, after he opined that referring to the looting, vandalism, and arson in both cities as ‘rioting’ is unjustified and a “desperate” political ploy by US President Donald Trump.
“To hear Trump and his allies tell it, the situations unfolding in Portland, Oregon, and Kenosha, Wisconsin, in response to several high-profile shootings by the police of Black men is rioting, plain and simple,” Cillizza wrote in a piece titled “‘Protests’ or ‘riots’? It makes a BIG difference.”
Trump's efforts to label what is happening in major cities as "riots" speaks at least somewhat to his desperation, politically speaking, at the moment.
The choice of cover photo, which shows two riot police standing in front of the scorched remains of a burning building, did not escape the attention of netizens, triggering a meme-fest.
Ironically, the original description of the photo, provided by Getty Images, describes the scene as the "second night of rioting."
Critics also pointed out that it was Portland police, not Trump, who declared the actions riots multiple times in the 100 days since the violence first broke out there.
“Serious question: do you have a ballpark idea of how many riots Portland has declared in the last month? And do you think the city is wrong to call them riots?” one person asked.
Cillizza’s point seems even more baffling considering that Democrats have launched the hashtag #TrumpRiots, acknowledging that peaceful protests have long turned violent, but pinning the blame on the Trump administration for fanning the flames in Kenosha, which the president is set to visit on Tuesday, and Portland, which saw clashes between a pro-Trump caravan and Black Lives Matter protesters on Saturday.
“Chris! Check your inbox. We all pivoted to acknowledging the riots this morning, but blaming Trump supporters for them,” one commenter quipped.
It’s not the first time CNN’s coverage of the protests has raised eyebrows. Earlier this week, the network chose to describe the violence in Kenosha as “mostly peaceful protests,” while showing viewers the exact opposite, invoking torrents of ridicule.
Stores raided and homes attacked as BLM rioters descend on Milwaukee suburb (VIDEO)
RT.com 8 Oct, 2020 09:29
Riots swept through Wauwatosa, in Milwaukee, on Wednesday night, after a black policeman was cleared of a black teen’s death.
Black Lives Matter (BLM) protesters had gathered outside the Milwaukee County Safety Building on Wednesday afternoon, awaiting the decision of the trial. Once delivered, it was met with dismay by the demonstrators. Although the protest remained peaceful for a while, violence erupted as night fell.
A curfew had been in place since 7pm and, at around 9pm, the police characterized the gathering as an “unlawful assembly,” ordering protesters to disperse immediately. However, the request was ignored, and officers began firing multiple rounds of tear gas and pepper balls.
The Wauwatosa Police Department advised residents to remain indoors and take shelter away from windows, as reports emerged that rioters were attacking homes and smashing storefronts. Videos shared on social media appear to show that some rioters were heavily armed.
Highway gas stations were also looted, many more than once. While some looters wore masks that concealed their identity, many showed their faces.
In expectation of civil unrest, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers had deployed National Guard troops to disperse the crowds and protect public and private property. Rioters repeatedly approached the sizeable police line, and the officers responded with more tear gas.
The unrest followed the decision of Milwaukee County District Attorney (DA) John Chisholm, who declined to file charges against black police officer Joseph Mensah for the death of black teen Alvin Cole, who stole and fired a handgun outside a mall in February.
Protests have taken place in the area since Cole was shot on February 2. The 17-year-old reportedly shot himself in the arm while running from law enforcement agents, having entered the Mayfair Mall brandishing a semi-automatic pistol. According to the DA’s report, on fleeing, Cole tripped and fell, before pointing his gun at the pursuing officers, at which point Mensah opened fire and killed him.
